Our Goals
Legal initiatives such as supply chain laws, multi-stakeholder initiatives like the Partnership for Sustainable Textiles and sustainability standards like the Green Button and the Blue Angel are making efforts to improve environmental and social conditions in the global textile and clothing industry. Nevertheless, there are regular cases of labour rights violations and environmental pollution.
Our goals encompass linking incidents of labour rights violations and environmental pollution to the brands, multi-stakeholder initiatives, and sustainability standards whenever possible. We aim to motivate them to address these issues and implement measures for improvement and redress.
Enhancing Worker- and Community-Based Monitoring Program
As a civil society partner network consisting of environmental and development NGOs, unions, and scientists in Bangladesh and Europe, we strive to contribute to a comprehensive risk analysis of companies through our Worker- and Community-based Monitoring program. This involves providing data and incidents where the rights holders and their expertise are considered. Additionally, we foster dialogue between NGOs, trade unions, local authorities, producers, and policymakers, based on reliable data on working and environmental conditions.
Through our Worker- and Community-based Monitoring program and this database of incidents within the textile sector, we seek to facilitate a transition to sustainable purchasing practices that respect ecological boundaries and ensure socially just working conditions - advancing the concept of Just Transition in the apparel and textile sector.
