More than 200 workers at a garment factory in Gazipur's Kadda district fell ill on 17 May 2025 after reportedly drinking water provided at the workplace. The factory was subsequently closed for the whole day.

The affected factory, International Classic Composite Limited (ICC), employs around 3,400 workers. The shift started as usual in the morning. Shortly after drinking water in the factory, some of them developed stomach pains and diarrhoea. The number of sick workers quickly rose to over 200. Those affected were then treated in various private clinics with the support of the factory management. The district police liaised with the factory management to ensure that the workers received adequate medical care.

Two days later, on 19 May, 100 more workers fell ill with dizziness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain or breathing difficulties. A doctor at the City Medical College Hospital, where around 80 workers were treated, said that the cause of the illnesses was still unclear. The police spoke of adequate medical care for those affected. The investigation is ongoing.

International Classic Composite Ltd. is listed in the Open Supply Hub as a supplier to a member company of the Partnership for Sustainable Textiles.
